Hmmm, not very exciting is it? There’s been no official confirmation this is the final artwork and it may just be the promo sleeve. The images file name of COURTEENERSPRE.JPG seems to indicate that this is the case… Anyone know for sure? Let us know your opinions via the comments boxes below.

The tour will kick off in Nottingham on April 9th and ends at Londons Astoria on April 26th.

Other big names to be annouced are Stereophonics, KT Tunstall, Feeder, The Wombats, The Fratellis, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs, Kings of Leon, The Prodigy, and Primal Scream.

An impressive line up, but with The Courteeners debut album due out in April maybe they can steal the show.

A dangerous path,

Hyping yourself up can be seriously dangerous. Get it wrong and you’ll be cast into the fiery belly of indie hell for eternity. So it’s a treacherous route that The Courteeners’ cocksure motor-mouth Liam Fray has chosen.

A Libertine dreamer,

Fray’s voice nudges close to Pete Doherty’s rolling rasp, while his band mates play with all the jangly excellence of Babyshambles covering The Jam covering The Kinks. It’s stirring stuff.

But the Doherty similarities don’t end there. The expectant atmosphere and sheer excitement is comparable with the explosive fervour which gripped the nation’s indie scene when The Libertines first crawled out of an East London bedsit and into the hearts of Albion’s dreamers.

The band’s previous single Acrylic made it into 44th, making What Took You So Long The Courteeners biggest chart success to date.

For a band that has not yet to receive widespread radio air play beyond XFM, (What Took You So Long made Radio One’s C list..) this is a a fantastic result. Much bigger successes are sure to come when the yet un-named album is release in March, many are already predicting that summer 2008 will be the of summer of The Courteeners.

Liam, 22, told the Daily Star,

“We met him when we played the Little Noise Sessions gigs at the end of last year. He said he loved us and that we were the best band he’d heard in ten years. That was pretty cool.”

Liam jokingly added,

““We think he’s going to support us on our next tour.””
